I’ve been interested in Lab Grown Diamonds as a market for a couple months. Limelight diamonds raising a round prompted me to put my thoughts on the industry here. - GenZ consumption and investment pattern are less favorable towards commodities like jewelry. Equities are the investment category of choice for this generation. - Jewelery due to the sentiment attached is often not liquidated and purchased like other assets. It may be used as collateral but that excludes stone weight. - LGD are atomically similar and offer more customization compared to Natural for half the price - Environmentally better and cruelty free adds to the appeal for this generation. - Vanity is shifting towards design rather than gold/stone weight. Spoke to a billionaires wife who prefers LGD. - LGD exports and national consumption is rising faster than supply of natural diamonds (100% vs 1.5%) - Pandora, Tata tren, De Beers all saw stock rise after LGD investment. Would love to hear your thoughts!
