Mokobara landed in a controversy when people started claiming that they manufacture their bags in china and their designs are copied too. But how Mokobara dealt with it is pretty insane! For context, it all started when someone posted screenshots comparing random Chinese bags with Mokobara’s designs, and this created quite a storm on social media. Soon, several influencers picked up this story and started questioning the whole situation. Some customers said they lost their faith in Mokobara, while some others defended Mokobara saying that it might have been Chinese manufacturers who copied the Mokobara’s designs instead! But what’s most interesting in this entire episode is how Mokobara responded to it. To prove the point that they weren’t copying Chinese designs, they launched a fresh new collection and literally said “Creating originals worth imitating”. They even trolled all their trollers by offering a 10% discount coupon code called ‘WHITELABEL10’. And this is insane, because you very rarely see brands take on such controversies head-on. Most brands either keep quiet, or try to dodge the situation altogether. So, it’s quite bold and unique of Mokobara to do this.

The company’s response addresses ongoing speculation about whether Mokobara is ‘white labelling’ Chinese bags and selling them at a markup, or if replicas are being sold on other e-commerce platforms.
