They found a tiny startup called Android Inc The company was financially struggling : no products, no revenue, just 4 guys and a dream. Their plan - create a operating system that was completely free and open source. The real game changer - Google bet $50M in android. Google didn't buy Android , instead they kept it open source. These was genius because - Phone makers got free software, developers got a free platform, users got more choice. Finally the first Android phone was launch in 2008. It was not smooth, it was not pretty but it was just the beginning of the revolution. As Android was free, it helped companies like Samsung, HTC, LG to compete with apple. Results - 71% of all smartphone worldwide are Android. Lesson - Sometimes the biggest opportunity looks like the riskiest bets
