New Users are in! Now Letโ€™s Talk Activation Metrics. The marketing team did an incredible job bringing in new usersโ€”great! But now, it's time to shift focus to activation. But first, let's clear up a common confusion between adoption and activation metrics. Both terms come up often, but hereโ€™s the key difference: Adoption: Measures how many new users adopt a feature within a specific time frame. Activation: Measures how many users (both new and existing) adopt a feature or product, regardless of whether they're new to the platform. Why does activation matter? Because a user may join your product, but if they donโ€™t experience value quickly, they may never return. Youโ€™ve probably experienced this yourselfโ€”if a product doesnโ€™t make a good impression in the first minute, youโ€™re out, right? ๐Ÿ˜… An activated user is someone who engages with your product enough to grasp its core value. If users drop off before this point, youโ€™ll see retention nosedive.
