Amazing historical facts you might never have learned in school... 😲 The beverage Fanta was created in Nazi Germany during World War II by the Coca-Cola company. 🥤 And it all happened because Germany simply didn't have the ingredients to produce genuine Coca-Cola. At the time, the head of Coca-Cola's German division was Max Keith. He ingeniously used local ingredients such as apple leftovers, apple puree, milk, and by-products from cheese-making to create a new beverage. Essentially, Fanta was concocted from remnants that could be found to make various products. 🍏🧀 Ultimately, this beverage was named Fanta, an abbreviation of the German word "Fantasie," meaning "fantasy" or "imagination." Fanta quickly gained popularity in Germany, and in 1943 alone, 3 million bottles were sold. 🍾🇩🇪 Interestingly, many Fanta bottles were repurposed as ingredients for cooking to add sweetness to soups and stews, thanks to its strong sweet taste. 🍲🍽️ After the war, when global supply chains were restored, Coca-Cola faced an ethical dilemma: continue branding and promoting a beverage with a history tied to Nazi Germany or not. 🤔🌐
