Amazing historical facts you might never have learned in school... ๐ฒ The beverage Fanta was created in Nazi Germany during World War II by the Coca-Cola company. ๐ฅค And it all happened because Germany simply didn't have the ingredients to produce genuine Coca-Cola. At the time, the head of Coca-Cola's German division was Max Keith. He ingeniously used local ingredients such as apple leftovers, apple puree, milk, and by-products from cheese-making to create a new beverage. Essentially, Fanta was concocted from remnants that could be found to make various products. ๐๐ง Ultimately, this beverage was named Fanta, an abbreviation of the German word "Fantasie," meaning "fantasy" or "imagination." Fanta quickly gained popularity in Germany, and in 1943 alone, 3 million bottles were sold. ๐พ๐ฉ๐ช Interestingly, many Fanta bottles were repurposed as ingredients for cooking to add sweetness to soups and stews, thanks to its strong sweet taste. ๐ฒ๐ฝ๏ธ After the war, when global supply chains were restored, Coca-Cola faced an ethical dilemma: continue branding and promoting a beverage with a history tied to Nazi Germany or not. ๐ค๐
