Our startup was inspired by the with the goal of reducing food waste by offering surplus food from restaurants and grocery stores at discounted prices. What set us apart was the additional feature of food delivery, making it more convenient for users to access these meals. Initially, the concept was well-received, and we secured our first round of funding, which allowed us to develop the app and onboard several businesses. However, the inclusion of the delivery feature brought significant challenges. Managing the logistics of delivering surplus food, often in unpredictable quantities, proved to be far more expensive than we anticipated. Balancing timely deliveries while maintaining food quality and minimizing costs became a constant struggle. As we scaled up, the operational costs began to outpace our revenue, and securing additional funding became difficult.
