Our startup was inspired by the with the goal of reducing food waste by offering surplus food from restaurants and grocery stores at discounted prices. What set us apart was the additional feature of food delivery, making it more convenient for users to access these meals. Initially, the concept was well-received, and we secured our first round of funding, which allowed us to develop the app and onboard several businesses. However, the inclusion of the delivery feature brought significant challenges. Managing the logistics of delivering surplus food, often in unpredictable quantities, proved to be far more expensive than we anticipated. Balancing timely deliveries while maintaining food quality and minimizing costs became a constant struggle. As we scaled up, the operational costs began to outpace our revenue, and securing additional funding became difficult. The biggest hurdle was the high cost of food delivery logistics and operationally cost. Continue in the reply section👇

The delivery feature, which we believed would add value, ended up being a financial strain. In hindsight, I wish we had either partnered with established delivery players to manage this aspect or focused on a pickup-only model. This could have reduced our operational costs significantly and made the business more sustainable in the long run. Although we had to shut down, the experience taught us valuable lessons in balancing innovation with practicality. Seeing Zomato now embracing similar initiatives made me so happy
