Question for Medial Community— "Who are Your Customers and Consumers?" What's the Difference? While the terms "consumer" and "customer" are often used interchangeably, they have distinct meanings in the business world. - Customer: A customer is an individual or business that purchases goods or services from a company. They may buy the product for themselves or someone else. In essence, a customer is involved in the transaction. - Consumer: A consumer is the end user of a product or service. They are the ones who actually use or consume what has been purchased. A consumer might not always be the one who bought the product. Example: Imagine a parent buying a toy for their child. In this scenario, the parent is the customer because they made the purchase, while the child is the consumer because they are the one playing with the toy.
