I'd ask them to explain a complex concept from their field to me as if I'm five years old. If they can break down something like async/await or blockchain in simple terms, it shows they truly understand it.

Their answer shows problem-solving skills, ability to admit mistakes, and how they handle pressure. Plus, everyone's messed up, so if they say 'never', they're lying or haven't done anything challenging
