ESOPS(Employee Stock Ownership Plans). This is something like a employer benefit plan that provides employees with ownership in the company.This Ownership is typically in the form of shares of the company stock. Equity generally refers to Ownership in a company which includes stocks and other forms of ownership,but when it comes it ESOP , here ownership limited to just shares of the company. By making employees shareholders,this fosters a sense of shared responsibility and commitment to the company's long term goals. And there are some tax advantages which is an attractive option for both companies and employees

ESOPs are basically very portion of company stocks given to employees on staying in the company for certain time periods. More or less similar to equity but very less in value. Companies give because that’s a good way to retain the employees. Bloat their CTC.
