Venture capital has been crucial for driving innovation in tech. Without VC funding, we wouldn't have giants like Google, Facebook, or Amazon. They take big risks on unproven ideas that traditional banks won't touch. That said, the focus on hypergrowth and quick exits can sometimes lead to unsustainable business practices. It's a double-edged sword.

I feel like the VC model has warped people's perception of what success looks like. Not every business needs to be a unicorn or disrupt an entire industry. There's value in creating sustainable, profitable businesses that serve their communities well, even if they don't have hockey stick growth.

In fields like AI and biotech, VC funding is absolutely essential. These areas require massive upfront investment before any return is possible. Without VCs willing to take these big risks, a lot of groundbreaking research and development simply wouldn't happen. They're not perfect, but they're necessary for certain types of innovation.
