This trend reflects the commercialization of art and culture. Cannes is historically a film festival, and seeing influencers use it as a platform for personal gain can be a bit disheartening. Though it seems excessive to me. The influencer world can be quite fickle, and spending so much for a moment in the spotlight might not have long-term benefits.

It’s part of the game. The industry thrives on appearances and high-profile events. For influencers, it’s an investment in their brand, even if it seems extravagant to others.

Honestly, it's all about visibility and branding. For influencers, walking the red carpet at Cannes can significantly boost their profile and follower count, which can translate into more lucrative brand deals.

Just about selling themselves on a globalstage, which is recouped pretty fast, if strategised and spent smartly. So we cant actually blame them, if you were an influencer and you had crores in your acc., you'd do this too, just for the sake of the trip to France, I can bet.

It is not just about the red carpet, it is the trust and promotions that they gain after it. Fin-fluencers like Raj, sharan etc gain trust of the youth and then they can promote more affiliate promotions thus gaining an X% return much higher than what they had paid or “invested”. Same goes for these female influencers, they too would get their fair share chunk back in the form of brand sponsorships
