In 1985, after being ousted from Apple, Steve Jobs founded NeXT Computers, aiming to revolutionize education and business computing. In 1988, he unveiled the NeXT Computer, known for its sleek design and innovative NeXTSTEP operating system. Despite its high price and limited market success, NeXTSTEP became a favorite among programmers, notably used by Tim Berners-Lee to create the World Wide Web. In 1996, a struggling Apple acquired NeXT, for a massive $400mn and a seat on the board, bringing Jobs back. NeXTSTEP (The OS) evolved into the foundation for macOS, playing a crucial role in Apple's revival. Jobs’ journey with NeXT highlighted his unwavering commitment to innovation, ultimately transforming Apple and proving the power of perseverance. Notably all your iPhone, MacBook still uses this OS.
