Flitz Haber (German Scientist) There's a high possibility that you owe your live to him. - why? before answering that I am sure you all are aware of Nitrogen Cycle and it's importance in growing crops. By the mid of 19th century population experienced a sudden growth and due to which the demand for Guano (Bird poop) which is rich in Nitrogen significantly increased however there was one problem - the world was running short on Guano. Thus all scientists started researching about making Ammonia (which is rich in nitrogen) synthetically but all failed however Flitz Haber successfully discovered the process. However despite being such a good source of Nitrogen Ammonia is also an explosive element. Thus it was used in WW1 and also Haber himself discovered Bioweapons which were responsible for killing almost 1,00,000 soldier and after his death in 1934, an year later his institution developed Zyklon - B, a hydrogen cyanide based compound which was used in Holocaust of Jews by the Nazis.
