The thing is if a dev understand his worth they won't do such assignments , I am a dev too and I have seen both sides from submitting assignments to making them , In one assignment whose solution was already available on github almost 70 percent of applicants failed so companies prefer those devs who doesn't need training, some companies might do scam but if a dev is smart enough he can write code with bugs so that it will fail to scale in production so no company can exploit a good dev
