No company totally depends on those assignments the only thing is that dev quality is too low in the market most devs doesn't understand scaling and deploying in particular , either they are very good in dsa or they know some framework but not in depth to make an end to end project that's why those assignments are preferred and also if someone is giving assignment they can always open source it with a license so that companies can't use it commercially

Kinda agreed. However, some early stage start-ups and unlisted companies doing this kind of evaluation seems fishy to me. They can just get their work done for basically free. If they encounter any problem or want to get something else done, they will put another assignment. It seems that they're taking advantage of the current job situation where even many skilled devs are actively looking to get a job asap. I've never seen or heard of anything similar before the recession/mass layoffs began. I like your idea of licensing the software/project. I will surely look into it and learn how to do the same. Thanks
