With 10+yrs in construction industry. I think, I can answer your question- 1. Quality/Durability- we don't change tiles often. Hardly twice or thrice in our lifetime. Solution- Try to show them comparison in a convincing manner. NO CHINESE MARKETING TRICKS PLEASE 2. Knowledge of the product- customers have no knowledge, they either go by looks or recommendations. Solution- Make them understand what they are buying. Most people look for value for money. 3. Visualization- Use simple tricks to show how their product would look like. Solution- Respect their choice and show them their Visualization. Also, you can put fwd your suggestions considering their thoughts asthetics/budget etc... I can go on & on...

This is not a viable business in my opinion due to following reasons 1. Most companies tie up with RE developers directly so that their products are used in the new construction that is happening. This is pure B2B and no platform is required here. 2. In case of renovation, the carpenter or architect is the person who is decision maker. Most of the local carpenters are non tech savvy and they won't use websites. They will physically go to stores to but raw material. 3. In case customer buys himself on your platform, first thing he should have is education about the quality of the product and quality of the construction of his house. Which is not easy. The solution here can be you can create a aggregation platform where you can digitise the catalogue of the local shop owners who can show various designs to customers. Think like lenskart. In offline stores there are limited collections but you can browse through all the available designs on the tab and they will order for you.

I don't think tiles would be buyed online because in india a house is considered as an big thing so it has their emotions normal indian consumer want to touch and feel it then only indian consumers will buy something

It need a good market research and differentiating the proper user segment for your goal... Random ideas will not get you the insights, unless from an experienced person in this field.

Material Depot does the same

I don't think anyone would order tiles or marbles without first seeing it offline and taking a look and feel of the tile/marble.

Why hasn't anyone else tried this?

Kajaria and all the big tile companies already do it and if not they will do it.

I think I have never seen any ad or website selling this. Good uncaptured market I guess.
