Semiconductor startup optoML raises $1.8 Mn in pre-Series A round SOC semiconductor startup optoML has raised $1.8 million in a pre-Series A funding round led by Bluehill.VC and A99. The proceeds will be used to expand hiring and begin work on its next generation of chips following the completion of its 12 nm tapeout with TSMC. Founded by Saravana Maruthamuthu, optoML builds analog-in-memory compute architectures with optical interconnects for AI workloads. The firm claims its patented in-memory compute design delivers up to 50x higher energy efficiency compared to traditional digital accelerators, targeting edge, enterprise, and data centre use cases. The startup has signed an MoU with Kaynes Semiconductor to support assembly and testing once wafers arrive from TSMC. optoML operates as a fabless semiconductor company and focuses on scalable AI System-on-Chip (SoC) platforms built on FinFET nodes. Bluehill.VC focuses on deep-tech investments across semiconductors, defence, energy, and industrial technology.

Beyond Next Ventures, Spectrum Impact, Supermorpheus, and returning investor Cocoon Capital have also participated. The total funding raised by the Bengaluru-based startup now stands at $4.02 million. The proceeds will be used to scale up manufacturing and expand its team. Founded in 2019 by Animesh Kumar Jha, Volt14 focuses on developing silicon-based anode materials for lithium-ion batteries. It has also developed an in-house cylindrical battery cell format demonstrating energy density enabled by its silicon anode. Volt14 claims that its technology increases silicon content in anodes while maintaining performance levels and is currently being evaluated by multiple battery cell manufacturers. According to market research, the lithium-ion battery sector is projected to exceed $300 billion by 2034, driven by electric vehicle adoption and energy storage expansion. Blume Ventures, the lead investor in this round, is also one of the early backers of Battery Smart, which is the most funded startup in the space.

Ice cream brand Go Zero has raised $1.5 million in its follow-on pre-Series A funding round from DSG Consumer Partners, Saama, and V3 Ventures, among others. The round also saw participation from notable angel investors such as Arjun Purkayastha. Earlier in August last year, the startup had raised $1 million in its pre-Series A funding round led by DSG Consumer Partners, Saama, and V3 Ventures. Founded by Kiran Shah, Go Zero has a diversified product portfolio featuring low-calorie, high-protein, and vegan ice creams. The startup claims that all its products are sweetened with plant-based sweeteners, which are low in calories. Currently present in 16 cities and over 125 dark stores, Go Zero ice cream brand is available on both quick commerce and e-commerce platforms in less than two years of launch. In FY24, Go Zero claims to have grown 4X compared to FY23 and while it saw 7X growth on quick commerce in just 5 months this summer. Go Zero competes with Hocco and NIC. Last year, NIC had raised $11 million in a growth funding round led by Jungle Ventures whereas Hocco recently raised $12 million from Chona family and others.

Founded to address operational inefficiencies in preschools and daycare centres, CuePilot offers a voice-first, AI-native management platform that automates a large share of administrative tasks. The system allows teachers to record short voice debriefs, which are converted into structured academic updates, operational records, and parent-facing communication. The company says this helps educators reduce screen time and focus more on classroom engagement. CuePilot operates as a full-stack platform covering academics, attendance, health logs, billing, admissions, and parent communication. The startup is targeting a segment where data is often fragmented across messaging apps, spreadsheets, and legacy software. CuePilot currently works with over 130 schools across India and Southeast Asia. The firm plans to scale to 1,000 schools globally over the next 12โ€“18 months, with a focus on expansion into the US, where average revenue per school is higher.
