However, the platform continues to display delivery timelines of as low as 8 minutes in select locations, as reflected on its website and app.The move follows a meeting between Union Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and senior executives from food delivery and quick commerce platforms, including Zomato, Swiggy, and Zepto. The meeting focused on delivery timelines and working conditions of platform-based workers.According to the reports, the ministry advised platforms to avoid fixed delivery time commitments that could impact the safety and wellbeing of gig workers.The intervention followed a nationwide protest by gig workers on New Year’s Eve. Workers across multiple platforms raised concerns related to income security, safety, and pressure linked to time based delivery targets.Ultra fast delivery models have expanded rapidly in India over the past few years, with several platforms promoting delivery within short time windows. These models have attracted regulatory attention as the sector continues to scale.According to Economic Times, government sources indicated that other quick commerce and food delivery platforms such as Swiggy Instamart, Zepto, BigBasket, and Flipkart Minutes may also review delivery time related branding and messaging, although no official announcements have been made by these companies so far.Entrackr has reached out to Instamart and Zepto for comments.

Rebel Foods launches 15-min food delivery app ‘QuickiES’ Cloud kitchen unicorn Rebel Foods is making a foray into the 15-minute food delivery segment to compete with foodtech giants like Zomato and Swiggy. In a LinkedIn post, EatSure co-founder and CEO Sagar Kochhar announced that Rebel Foods has launched its 15-minute food delivery app, QuickiES. Co-founded in 2011 by Jaydeep Barman and Kallol Banerjee, Rebel Foods operates a network of cloud kitchens and restaurants across multiple countries. It owns and operates several quick-service restaurant (QSR) brands, including Behrouz Biryani, Mandarin Oak, Oven Story Pizza, Sweet Truth, LunchBox, The Good Bowl, Firangi Bake, The Biryani Life, and Wendy’s. Rebel Foods claims to operate over 450 cloud kitchens across India, the MENA region, Indonesia, the UK, and 75 Indian cities. In FY24, the company’s revenue from operations increased to Rs 1,420 crore, while its losses narrowed by more than 42% to Rs 378 crore during the same period. The Mumbai-based startup has raised $773 million in funding to date from investors such as KKR, Temasek, Lightbox, Evolvence, and others. The instant food delivery market is becoming increasingly competitive, with Zepto launching a dedicated app for Zepto Cafe, promising 10-minute food deliveries. Meanwhile, Zomato-owned Blinkit has introduced Bistro, a standalone app for instant food delivery. Similarly, Swiggy has launched a standalone app, SNACC, for 15-minute food delivery. Zomato has also entered the quick food delivery segment, while emerging platforms like Swish, Magicpin, and Zing are gaining momentum.

Actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu–backed perfume brand Secret Alchemist has raised $3 million in a funding round led by Unilever Ventures, with participation from DSG Consumer Partners. The round was a mix of primary and secondary capital, of which $2.5 million was primary capital and the remainder was secondary, with a few early angel investors selling their stakes. The Mumbai-based startup had previously mopped up $898,000 in a seed funding round led by IPV and others. The proceeds will be utilised for branding and marketing, widening its product portfolio, and expanding the team, Secret Alchemist said in a press release. Co-founded in 2022 by Ankita Thadani, Akash Valia, and Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Secret Alchemist is a clean fragrance and aromatherapy brand that focuses on transparent, toxin-free perfumes and wellness products derived from natural ingredients and aromatherapy principles. Secret Alchemist aims to provide holistic wellness through nature-meets-science formulations, addressing the root causes of skin and hair concerns with pure essential oils and transparent ingredients. The brand offers clean perfumes, skincare, haircare, and aromatherapy blends, emphasising purity, sustainability, and luxury. Secret Alchemist’s products are available on the company’s direct-to-consumer website, ecommerce platforms such as Amazon, and quick commerce apps, including Blinkit. The company plans to expand its presence across more websites and apps in the coming days.

Jason Kothari, the former Snapdeal executive, has raised $15 million in a seed funding round for his new startup, Mythik. The round saw participation from Sakal Media Group, BITKRAFT, VC Grid, Visceral Capital, Jason Kothari, Shah Rukh Khan’s family office, Patni family office, Saif Saeed Ghobash, Jayanti Kannai, Pravin Jain, Marc Younan, Deepen Parikh, Samir Vora, Samarth Parekh, Anurag Goel, Nishant Aggarwal, and others. Launched by Kothari last month, Mythik is a tech-first global entertainment company aiming to bring Eastern mythology, history, and folktales to a worldwide audience for the first time and to create a "Disney from the East." Jason Kothari, Founder of Mythik, said, “We are excited about the world-class and strategic investors we have brought together and look forward to realizing Mythik’s vision and mission—to bring Eastern mythology, history, and folktales to the forefront of global entertainment and inspire happiness, peace, and hope.” The company’s founding team includes former senior executives from Disney, Netflix, Amazon Studios, Jio, and Tencent. Kothari’s entrepreneurial journey began at Wharton, where he acquired the bankrupt comic book publisher Valiant Entertainment and led its turnaround. He later sold the company to DMG Entertainment for $100 million and served as executive producer of Bloodshot, a film based on a Valiant character, starring Vin Diesel. Kothari joined Housing.com in 2015 and was named CEO following the exit of founding CEO Rahul Yadav. He later served as CEO of FreeCharge for eight months and as Chief Strategy and Investment Officer at Snapdeal for one and a half years.
