Meta wins appeal of court order to stop using its name in Brazil

Meta, the parent company of Facebook, has won an appeal that allows it to continue using its name in Brazil. Previously, a court had ruled in favor of a Brazilian computer services provider, arguing that it owned the rights to the name and had been wrongly involved in numerous lawsuits due to confusion caused by Meta's branding. Meta believes it should follow the law regardless of business decisions made by others. Despite the appeal win, the Brazilian Meta can still challenge the decision. The rebranded company, focused on building the metaverse, changed its name from Facebook in 2021.
