The Indian government is considering extending the fiscal support period under the second phase of the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) to eight years from the current five years. Applicants whose projects get approval under ISM Phase-II may receive additional financial grants for skill training, an option for an interest-free loan, and help from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. However, financial support for technology transfer costs may be withdrawn, and the outlay for administrative expenses may be increased. The ISM is likely to receive a second budgetary allocation of up to $10 billion.
