We currently source and supply spices to restaurants under our brand Shahnaaz – The Royal Essence of Spices. Working closely with restaurant kitchens, I’ve noticed most maintain consistent flavor using a few standardized base gravies (onion–tomato, brown, white) and then layer spices and finishing elements to create multiple dishes. It made me wonder whether that system could translate into a consumer product for home kitchens. My hypothesis is that many urban home cooks struggle with inconsistent gravy outcomes because spice ratios and cooking steps vary each time. I’m exploring a simple format: base puree + calibrated spice paste + finishing spices. Before building anything, I’m trying to validate whether this is actually a meaningful problem. From your experience building consumer brands, I’d value your candid view: • Is “taste consistency” a real enough consumer pain in India? • What would be the biggest flaw in this concept?
