India’s startup ecosystem is entering a different phase. For years the focus was on numbers—more startups, more funding, more visibility. Now the focus is gradually shifting toward capability. The Government recently approved Startup India Fund of Funds 2.0 with a ₹10,000-crore corpus to mobilize venture capital for innovative companies. At the same time, initiatives like India Semiconductor Mission 2.0 aim to build long-term technological capacity in areas such as electronics manufacturing and semiconductor supply chains. This suggests a broader transition. The next generation of startups in India may not be defined by how quickly they scale—but by the capabilities they build.
