📌Rupee is Asia's worst performing currency' Asia’s worst‑performing currency” is not a headline any country wants but that is where the rupee finds itself in 2025. With a 4.3% depreciation versus the dollar, record trade deficits fuelled by US tariffs, high gold imports and persistent FPI outflows, the INR is now flirting with the ₹90/USD mark. For Indian businesses, this is a wake‑up call on currency risk. Strengthening export pipelines, re‑negotiating input contracts, and actively hedging exposures will be critical in the months ahead. At a policy level, faster progress on the India–US trade deal and measures to curb non‑essential imports could be key to restoring confidence in the rupee.

Many people are happy about the reduction in the trade deficit, but the reality is that the reason behind India's trade deficit decreasing is that India has slightly reduced its imports of gold, silver, and crude this time.
