Poor leadership. You could have known who is who, way before the last moment, and could have taken the appropriate action earlier. In this case, I could simply state that you just used some employees who were working for you for low salaries, and were expecting a raise after the company goes live. Right after the game had been almost made and they all thought they made it, you fired them. And I can sense too much drama in this story.
