Is Working From Home a Crime? I recently interviewed with a reputed multinational company. At first, I was denied because of my age (32). After some discussions, they agreed to interview me. I cleared almost every round: HR, Operations, and more. I believed I was close to securing the role. But then came the final rejection. I was told that because I have been working from home for the past 14+ years, I am not fit to work in an office. Worse, I was humiliated for trying to pursue a job “at the cost of leaving my ill mother, who is a triple heart patient,” and was made to feel that my years of experience carried no weight simply because they were remote. This left me with a serious question: Is working from home really so unacceptable? Does the location of work matter more than the results delivered? Should years of proven experience be dismissed just because they were not in a physical office? For over 14 years, I have delivered projects, supported businesses, and built outcomes remotely. Yet in the eyes of some, this isn’t “valid” experience. This isn’t just my story, many professionals face the same bias. So I want to hear from this community: If remote work produces results, why is it still treated as a weakness?
