I was always the odd one out in my family. Business was in everyone’s blood except mine. My father built his life around the diamond business. My mother sold jewellery and dress materials from home. My brother owned an Amul franchise. Even my wife found ways to sell on Meesho and elsewhere. And me? I spent 15+ years in a job. For years, I convinced myself that stability was the smarter path. The monthly paycheck felt safe, predictable, reliable. But somewhere inside, there was a nagging voice whispering, “When will you start something of your own?” I ignored it for a long time. Until one day, I couldn’t anymore. Yes, I was the last one in the family to take the leap. And yes, it came with its own fears. Leaving behind 15 years of familiarity wasn’t easy. But here’s the truth: starting late doesn’t mean starting wrong. Those years in corporate gave me perspective, discipline, and a way of looking at business differently. They taught me patience, people, and process, things that became my foundation as an entrepreneur. Today, I see it clearly: It doesn’t matter when you start. What matters is that you do. Because once you take that leap, the fear of being “late” fades, and the freedom of building something of your own takes over.
