From 22nd September, the first day of Navratri, the new GST rates will be implemented. The government is calling it NextGen GST. Now, the middle class is looking at this change with a lot of hope. The expectation is simple, if GST rates are reduced, things should cost less. But the reality might play out differently. Thereโs a chance that while the tax percentage drops, the base prices could adjust in such a way that the final cost still looks the same. Thatโs exactly the gap between expectation and possibility that this image captures. Yes, there is an *anti-profiteering clause* meant to ensure that businesses pass on the benefits of lower GST to consumers. But the big question is, will it truly be enforced in spirit, or will prices quietly find their way back to the same โน100 mark? For the middle class, itโs not about tax percentages on paper, itโs about whether theyโll actually feel a difference in their wallets. Middle class math: Expectations โน89, Possibility โน100. What do you think, will NextGen GST truly lighten the load, or just reshuffle the math?
