🚀 Should India Start Charging Fees for High-Value UPI Transactions? UPI is a world-class digital payments system — fast, free, and inclusive. But there's a hidden cost: 💸 Infra cost of ₹0.10–₹0.30 per transaction 🏦 Over ₹1,000 crore/month just to keep it running 📉 And today… the system runs on government subsidies What if we make UPI free for the masses, but charge a tiny fee on high-value transactions? 🔍 Here’s a simple, fair model we simulated: ₹10,001–₹40,000 → 0.2% ₹40,001–₹80,000 → 0.45% ₹80,001–₹1,10,000 → 0.4% ₹1.10 lakh+ → just 0.25% 🎯 Only ~6% of all UPI transactions cross ₹10,000 But they make up 90%+ of the total value! 📈 Estimated monthly revenue? ₹17,392 crore ➡️ Over ₹2 lakh crore a year ✅ To close loopholes, we also proposed: 40 UPI transactions/day soft limit AI-based detection of split transfers PAN-linked daily transfer tracking Dynamic rolling limits per user how about this idea 😅
