Today, I want to tell you about Alter-Ego. A fancy word but what does it mean? Alter-ego is something which helps you make yourself a different personality, a different identity or persona for specific occasion or situation. But why do you want to have a different personality as a whole? This is because your natural identity might not allow you to express certain things that you want to. And there comes alter-ego which acts as a mental costume which allows you to express or act in certain way, maybe more confident, more creative, more assertive, more decisive; depending on what you wish for. By using an alter-ego you can distance your usual self from the situational self. This distance can help reduce self-doubt, fear, or any hesitation, because your mind perceives it through the alter-ego rather than your usual self. So basically the alter-ego of yours can work as a tool to improve your mental and emotional state, which can work you through a stressful situation, or improve performance, and also to showcase or express your hidden attributes.
