🚀10-Day start-up series 🔥 29th June 🧵 Post 1️⃣ 6️⃣ : We will see whom to hire, when to hire and how to in this post ( this post is continuation of previous post ) 🎯 Whom to hire when ? 1️⃣ First figure out who's the most important thing you want help in like If you need help in building then hire a Co-founder who's full-stack dev or equivalent If you need help in sales then hire sales team or growth marketer or marketing team ( keep team as 2 no worries at starting stage ) Need help in doing other stuffs hire Ops, or in which particular field you need help or a generalist Need help in CA hire a finance analyst or accounts teams same way first know properly where you need help at then hire accordingly ✅ At your starting stage never overhire or hire someone with promising extra salaries, also maintain a good work culture automatically every employee will be happy to work in ( i know in startups drill is required, but keep the drill chill not stressing them too much ) Focus on person's skills and growth rather than degrees 💡 ( but for few companies they require director as Doctor, CA etc at that time obviously hire them itself ) 2️⃣ Next finding out where to find great fit for your startup. Hire great young minds and adopters Next i would say : LinkedIn ( even if it's unworthy, but sometimes you can get a great people ) Discord / Reddit : Genz kids with cool headphone and a Starbucks cup ( but actually great Devs 😥 ) Next is freelancers : one of the best workers hustlers ( if you find the first ones ) Sometimes your users can be your employee ( make sure to add a career page to your website or application 😉 ) ⚡ Sometimes the best hires are often from your own employees referral sometimes through the networks. 3️⃣ How to properly structure your hiring in your Early-stages. Post everywhere gain attention that you are hiring, personally mail people's no worries at all. Offer equity or revenue share if you think you can't really pay them at early stages Or hire a freelancer for a week gigs and test tasks Look for people with skills in their brains rather than in CV or resume. Don't run behind tier-1 college, IIT, IIM, BITS graduates not saying don't hire them but don't run behind them there would be people with same mind from tier-2 colleges too. Never cheat your employees or never give them fake promises by exaggerating salaries and them saying startup is draining alot and we need to reduce salaries ( afford how much your startup can at the beginning ) Create a ESOP pool, offer ESOPs They are different types of hiring too, we will talk about it in upcoming post 😉 ( if you don't wish to know about it lemme know I'll not waste time on it and spend time on something else 🫡 ) ⚠️ Whom to avoid ? The one who shows-off his degree, the one who says they have done this, they have done that but in reality if you ask to show nothing.
