I’m not building, but here’s a dating app idea that solves almost everything wrong with current ones. Inspired by Schmooze (matches based on memes good idea), but we go further. You match with one person at a time, locked in for 4 days. During that time, you can’t swipe or match with anyone else. If it’s a bad match, you can obviously leave anytime. But if it’s not toxic, this system stops people from treating matches like backups or options. It forces intention — either talk or walk. Now the real fix: you don’t start with a cringy opener — you start with a game. Text-based, turn-based stuff that creates fun interaction: Skribbl, Who Am I, This or That, Caption Battles, Two Truths and a Lie, Would You Rather, etc. Basically popular games that naturally lead to teasing, flirting, joking, and vibing. You play, you chat while playing, and you actually get to know the person without awkward silences. It feels like a virtual mini-date with a built-in reason to talk.
