Manual skills still matter, and as AI grows, I suspect what will matter more is how much of the covarage of the basics you understand both depth and breadth wise. I have a gut feeling, being obssesed with gaining perfection in the basics is what will matter more as AI does the task at a higher level we need to verify it's work and check if it used the basics correctly.
