Founders typically try to bootstrap when they want to maintain control over their company. On the downside, there might be times when the financial strain they face might tip them over the edge There are quite a lot of companies that have grown to be behemoths in their respective industries without raising money from investors. Zoho Corp is one of the best examples of a bootstrapped business in India. Few others are Mojang Studios (The creators of Minecraft), JetBrains (Enterprise Software Developer), Hewlett-Packard (I don't think there is anyone who doesn't know hP), and much more
