Just checked the main potential reasons to why it was banned (apart from laws) and all these problems are very easy to solve. 1) Reckless driving to hit targets: - Don't make the targets so strict. That's all. 2) Insurance and safety of the driver: - I don't remember but some law was passed to make it mandatory to provide insurance/etc to all the GIG workers. - Still can be solved but increases costs for companies. 3) Rikshaw Unions use to surround the bike taxi people and engage in violence: - That's a big issue. Hard to solve. 4) Safety of the rider and women: - These rides take place in cities. Aren't they safe? - Women driver Exists. And Rapido plans to on-board 200k women driver over the next 3 years. Honestly, all these stuff applies to the food delivery and qcom guys too but they are still allowed. While i have never used a bike taxi, but based on reviews it saves a lot of time for the consumer and is cheap. At the end Rapido built a whole company around this. Indian Motar Cycle act 1988 doesn't allow bikes as commercial vehicles and that's one of the main reason to why it was banned. But yeah, that's a law. They are meant to be broken and modified. Apart from the reasons i listed, I don't see any reason to why it was banned. Anyways, pls correct me if I'm wrong.
