Women Entrepreneurs: Outperforming Despite Funding Gaps Women face significant funding disparities. Globally, women's startup rose from 6.1% (2001) to 10.4% (2023). In India, ~73,151 startups have at least one woman director. However, only 14.1% of tech founders are women, & even in top ecosystems, women make up 26% of founders. The funding gap is stark: 2.3% of global VC funding (approx. $6.7B) goes to female-only teams. 83.6% ($241.9B) goes to all-male teams. Average deal size for female-only teams: $5.2M vs. $11.7M for male-only. All-male teams raise 3.7x more than female-only teams. women-led startups yield 2Xthe revenue per dollar invested vs. male-led ventures (78 cents vs. 31 cents). Outperform male-only ventures by 63%. Achieve 35% higher ROI. Women-led health tech startups outperform by 22%. The disparity stems from biases (only 15.4% of VC decision-makers are women). However, firms with female partners are 2.3x more likely to invest in female founders.
