Duolingo is making a major strategic shift towards becoming an AI-first company. The CEO, Luis von Ahn, said that simply tweaking old human centric systems isn't enough. Many systems need to be rebuilt from scratch to be AI native. • There will be gradual phase out of contractors for work that AI can handle • AI skills will be essential in hiring decisions • AI usage will be part of performance reviews • A team's ability to grow will depend on how well they use AI ( Use AI to work smarter, and then we'll consider giving you more people ) • Each team will be given specific AI focused initiatives to completely redesign how they work Duolingo is betting on AI this time, just like how it once did on mobile back in 2012 ( not just as a tool, but as a platform shift ) The full memo 👇
