“Valuation made me feel like I was winning. Now I realise—I was setting myself up to lose.” That’s what a founder friend told me last week. He built a great brand. Strong traction. Big valuation. But the investors he brought in? Flashy money with no understanding of the space. Now, they’re pressuring him for unrealistic growth. Why? Because their LPs are pressuring them. He said, “Had I brought in the right investors—those who knew the game—I’d be building with peace, not panic.” It hit me hard. As founders, we focus on product, team, GTM. But forget that investors are long-term partners. Raising money ≠ success. Raising right = compounding value. In my journey of working with 500+ founders, I’ve seen this often. I’ll keep sharing these real stories—for all of us to build better. Because funding is not the win. Funding right is. What’s your take?

Google offered 60x revenue to Wiz! Let that sink in. 60x the annual revenue. I admire the founders and investors who can say no to US$23B valuation. Even if the company hits US$1B in late 2024 (looks unlikely) or mid 2025 (most likely), they shoul
