What Has Changed? Previously, tax officials could enter and search physical locations suspected of holding undisclosed assets, but digital assets were largely outside their reach. The new bill, set to take effect from April 2026, explicitly brings digital platforms under the tax net. Now, if authorities have “reason to believe” that a taxpayer is withholding information, they can demand access to any digital account and forcibly bypass security measures if access is denied.
