Placements today aren’t about CGPA or degrees—they’re about proof of work. Real projects, internships, communication, and consistency matter way more than marks on paper. The harsh truth? Many students with good grades still struggle, while those who build early—intern, freelance, or just start something—land better roles faster. The market rewards execution, not theory. Colleges need to stop masking this reality. Instead of selling placement dreams, they should prepare students for how the hiring world actually works—through real exposure, portfolio building, and honest conversations. The earlier students know the system won’t save them, the sooner they’ll take charge. And in today’s world, self-placement is the new placement.
