IIT Bombay has denied reports that claimed that over 30% of students were yet to secure placements. In a post on X, The institute clarified that only 6.1% of their students are still looking for jobs, as per an exit survey among graduating students in 2022-23. Earlier, HT reported that out of approximately 2,000 students who registered for the 2024 placements, a staggering 36%, or 712 students, were yet to find jobs. Based on the institute's report, 57.1% of students from IIT Bombay's graduating class of 2022-23 secured jobs through the campus placement process. For those who did not get placed, the largest group (12.2%) chose to pursue further studies. Additionally, 8.3% entered public service, and 4.3% were undecided about their next steps. A small fraction, 1.6%, ventured to start their own businesses, while 10.3% found employment outside of the institute's placement activities.
