𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝘁 𝗙𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 – 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰 𝗔𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻’𝘀 𝗦𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁 Not every founder is real. Some chase 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐬, 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬. Marc Andreessen has seen this for decades. When tech is booming, many jump in—not to build, but to 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭. They read all the books, craft a perfect pitch, and sound impressive. But when the market crashes, they disappear—back to McKinsey, Goldman Sachs, or other high-status jobs. So, how do you 𝐬𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬? 𝗔𝘀𝗸 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗱𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀. Andreessen uses a simple trick—keep asking deeper questions. Fake founders struggle. Their answers get vague, their logic falls apart, and it’s clear they don’t truly understand what they’re building. Real founders? 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞. They’ve spent 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬—𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐬—𝐨𝐛𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐚. The more you ask, the sharper and more confident their answers get. They don’t just talk big; they know every detail of making it real. This test works because 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐩. They’ve built prototypes, solved real problems, and can explain every step without hesitation. Next time you meet a founder, 𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦. Dig deeper. Keep asking “why?” and “how?” Because in startups, 𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐠𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠—𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐞𝐱𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬. Entrepreneurs don’t fail because of lack of ideas. They fail because they chase too many. Every "let’s just test this" stacks up until your real priorities get smothered. Focus isn’t sexy. But it’s undefeated.

Hot take: Most “founders” aren’t entrepreneurs. They’re just glorified employees who gave themselves a CEO title. Why? Because if your income stops the moment you stop working — you don’t own a business. You own a job. And worse — you’ve probably
