This is a deep-rooted psychological hangover from colonial mentality. We've internalized this subconscious belief that anything foreign, especially from Western countries, is inherently more sophisticated and valuable. It's a complex mix of colonial legacy, cultural cringe, and a deeply ingrained inferiority complex. Our education system, media, and social conditioning have repeatedly reinforced this narrative that Western knowledge is superior. Indian entrepreneurs often have to prove themselves doubly hard, while a foreign consultant can walk in with generic advice and be treated like a guru.
