The article completely misses the chicken-and-egg problem these apps face. Users won't download yet another app unless it already has businesses they care about, and businesses won't join unless there are users. This is why every "hyperlocal revolution" has failed so far. Remember NeighborGoods? LocalFlavor? The graveyard of hyperlocal apps is massive. Without solving the initial adoption problem, this is just wishful thinking.
