I disagree. I think Microsoft just wants to make sure it’s you logging in, not someone else. Entering the code might not necessarily cancel the deletion—sometimes they just verify the user. Check the official Microsoft FAQ or try searching how LinkedIn (also owned by Microsoft) handles partial logins. They have a weird policy, but typically a login during the grace period resets the deletion timer.
