my friend , you're not the only one thinks about it like this why everyone puts effort for upvotes is , as you said it takes min of 10k to publish a app even if I build it through no-code or lowcode or other ways, which we can get through being in top3 of i don't go on to ask for upvotes , I won't be in top25 also , isn't it better that I ask few more people to upvote and if I win it's just free money for startup ,because the truth is we all maximum chances we come from middle class family and here 10k is also a big deal , for me it was never for 1k it's just a add-on by medial to make more people participate in the greedy for 1k because again free money for users so they go on to ask upvotes and for medial it's more subscriptions most of us don't like this but it's the way it is , as you have premium you can block the people from dm request so you don't get irritating requests for upvotes even I ask for upvotes because in last showcase i participated in last but I only requested people who are my followers and previously upvoted my idea and only with that I got into top25 other than spamming every dm
