if Perplexity was truly better, why do they need to run ads targeting ChatGPT users? If a product is superior, it wins organically. Paying to show up first screams insecurity.

Exactly my man. I think it’s more of an attempt to scalp the already nurtured and convinced crowd instead of acquiring absolutely new and first time users. Also, Altman is taking lot of heat from all directions, i guess it’s just some opportunistic angle to it.
