Krvvy was my first angel investment. This was back in April ’24 at pre-revenue stage 😅😅 And days ago, the lingerie company announced a fantastic Rs 6.1 crore fundraising from marquee names like Shark Kunal Bahl and Rohit Bansal of Titan Capital, All In Capital, Emmanuel, Nikita and more. Thus, I finally decided to share how I got the opportunity and how I evaluated it. .. See, I did not know the founder - Yash. But, I share brotherly vibes with Emmanuel, who knew him well and was investing himself. He asked if I could help him evaluate the opportunity and shared that he could also get me an allocation in the round if I wanted it. .. But, I knew nothing about the women’s innerwear space. Thus, I put out in my WhatsApp community, which had ~18k members (now 27k+), that I was looking to speak to founders and senior folks in the innerwear market. And the next two days, I got on 10 calls, including with two leading founders in men’s innerwear space and two of Lux and Rupa’s biggest distributors 🙌 -> Basis what sentiment I had gathered from them I was already sure that Yash would not be a great fit (I was stupid & wrong) -> Nonetheless, I prepared a long list of questions to fulfil my commitment to Emmanuel, which I grilled Yash on And it was his detailed, grounded answers to those questions that made me build conviction. After that call, I knew I wanted to invest 🙌 .. So, I asked Yash - If I could buy some lingerie samples. He was kind enough to send a set off to my place at no cost at all. And well, my Maa and Ayushi, and two of my friends, they all loved it. And that’s when I committed a small sum (anybody who invests this small should not call themselves an angel). -> But, two days later, I felt, I wanted to do more. So, I pinged Yash, if I could increase my bet by a third -> He was gracious enough to give me the allocation. And that’s how we sealed the deal! 🤝🤝 .. The best part is that it was only 7 months later when I met him in person at his very place. There, I saw how it was not just him, but the entire family was all in. His sister (Anshika), beloved mother, everyone. He had in fact turned a part of his house and the basement of a nearby house into his office and store (in pic). This is from where he scaled the promise he had made to us early investors into a true business which Sharks like Kunal have now backed with full faith. And this is all such a proud and delightful vibe. .. Yash - I did not invest in Krvvy. I invested in you. And I am happy, I got to. I know it was a small sum. But, you know you shall always have a cheerleader in me. Rooting for you 🙌🙌 ..
