The recent launch of private-label brands like Blinkit’s Bistro and Swiggy’s Snacc is a violation of trust for private label restaurants The National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) has raised some serious concerns, arguing that these moves violate marketplace neutrality and threaten fair competition. What’s interesting is that both Zomato and Swiggy had previously promised their restaurant partners that they wouldn’t launch private-label brands on their platforms. So, with these recent moves, the question of trust and transparency is becoming more critical than ever. Blinkit’s CEO, Albinder Dhindsa, has clarified that Bistro is a completely separate app from Zomato, and that no restaurant data was used in its creation.
