SEO Lane Series - Lane 5 Keywords Research - Step by Step Guide The one who followed my posts, Knows what's keywords and its importance, If not check my previous posts. Now in this post, Let's see how to perform research the right keyword that matches your needs and target your ideal customers. So without further ado' Let's go. 1 - Who is your audience? Are they one who buys groceries online on every friday?, Or the Trip planners of the friends group always searching for group stay?. Define your target audience as defined and clarified as possible. This will map you a idea of what we are going to do to target in overall 2 - Identify your SEED Keyword. It is a Words or phrases used as the starting point in keyword research to unlock more keywords. Eg,. Washing machine in Chennai - Washing machine is a seed keyword. Start with basic terms related to your niche. Think of words your audience might type into Google to find you. After that, take down all of your SEED keyword list 3 - Choose a keyword research tool I personally use google's keyword planner and Thehoth's SEO tools. Sometimes to get more keyword ideas i use ahref's free keyword generator. Choose a tool which meets your needs 4 - Analyze the search intent What type of search intents do your audience search? (Check my previous posts for detailed overview of search intents)Determine why people are searching. Eg,. Informational: "What is vegetarian food in corse?" Navigational: "ABC hotel location." Transactional: "Order vegetarian meals online." 5 - Analyze the keyword. Now you have keywords that matches your audience's search intents, Now Research the keyword's search volume and SEO Difficulty to rank High search volume (people are searching for it). Low-to-medium competition (easier to rank for). 6 - Identify Long tail keywords This is one of the most important steps. These are more specific and less competitive phrases. Example: “best vegetarian restaurant in Anna Nagar.” These types of keywords are easier to rank and will have less competition. 7 - Spy on Competitors Use tools like Semrush or Ahrefs to see what keywords your competitors rank for. 8 - Group and Prioritize Keywords Organize keywords into categories like: Blog topics Product pages FAQs and target accordingly. Focus on high-priority keywords that align with your business goals. Don't keep on placing the keywords more than 2 - 3 times in a page.
