One of my SEO program clients struggled to rank for a specific keyword (I can’t mention it here). The keyword was highly generic, with a significant ranking difficulty. Despite explaining that the keyword was irrelevant to their business, the client was determined to rank for it. Fast forward 20 days, the website ranked at 14th position, even with so many odds against us. Competing with big players in the industry, we managed to achieve this feat for a non-relevant keyword. How Exactly Did We Do This? While I can’t disclose the entire process as it’s part of my paid consulting program, here are two important steps that played a vital role in ranking the website: 1. Topical Authority Take any health-related topic as an example. If you search for it on Google, most of the time, “Healthline” and its related blogs dominate the top positions. Why? Because Healthline has built a solid topical authority in the health sector by consistently sharing high-quality blogs, podcasts, case studies, and other health-related resources. Google favors websites with strong topical authority and tends to rank them higher in search results. This principle was essential in helping us break through the competition. 2. Competitor Gap To outperform competitors, you must analyze the ranking content for your target keyword. Here’s what we did: Studied the top-ranking blog for that keyword. Analyzed why it was ranking—whether it was due to the keyword, content depth, or structure. Borrowed insights from the competitor’s strategy and rewrote the content in our own way. Note: Don't simply copy or rewrite using tools like ChatGPT. Instead, carefully extract information and presented it in a unique and engaging manner. Google is smart—replicating content won’t get you anywhere. By combining these strategies with additional steps, we achieved a ranking in just 20 days. To be honest, we didn’t expect it to happen this quickly, given the challenges involved. ___________________________________________________________ Stay Tuned!
